Are you Acidic – How to Measure the Body’s pH?

- The easiest and most economical way to measure your own pH is to use a small piece of specially-designed pH paper.
- Test your own urine first thing in the morning
- A consistent pH reading of between 6.4 and 7.4 shows a favourable acid-alkaline balance.
- If the pH is regularly below 6.4, this most likely indicates an acidic condition (acidosis).
- For many people, chronic acidosis is an ongoing issue.

Question: Can I also use these testing strips on saliva?

Answer: Though the urine test will provide the most accurate results, you could perform a proper saliva test.

First thing in the morning, rinse your mouth with clean water, then generate some fresh saliva (think of eating a tart lemon) then deposit a small amount of the saliva into a container. Place the edge of the strip of pH paper into the droplet of saliva, compare it with the pH chart.

Please note: pH paper (also known as Hydrion or litmus paper) is impregnated with mixtures of chemical indicator dyes. Do not put pH paper in your mouth.
